How To Manage Your Urges To Call Her During No Contact

If you’ve decided to use the No Contact Rule, I’ll tell you’re really committed to healing yourself over the long run and finding a rewarding relationship with your ex or with somebody else.

But how do you keep those urges to do things you know that you just shouldn’t do at bay? What can you do when you are feeling your hand taking on a life of its own and reaching for the phone?

Here are a few love help ideas:

First, keep yourself busy. We feel the strongest urges to contact our ex when we are alone with our thoughts, like when we are dropping off at night or when we’re doing something tedious and mindless at work.

You might not be able to get around going to work or going to sleep, but you can cut down on these idle moments when your brain drifts back to “her.” Start by doing things that actively involve your brain like learning a new language, playing an action packed sport, like football, or simply having a great time with your mates joking about the good old days.

This keeps your thoughts actively engaged in the moment so it can’t float back to your ex. This works very well for keeping your thoughts from driving you crazy.

Secondly, work on making your life something you can feel excited about without or with your ex.

I’m sure that you most likely feel down in the dumps about life right now. That’s understandable following a break up, but you don’t need to remain there. Find things you can be pumped up about in your life.

Set goals and work toward making them your reality. As you start to make progress toward your targets, you’ll naturally feel more self-confidence and more self image.

This may only make you feel better and better about yourself. I know lots of folks, myself included, sometimes feel pretty low after a break up, so doing things like this’ll help you notice that you really do have a lot happening in your life and that you can turn this experience into something actually positive irrespective of what ends up going down between your ex and you.

Remember that you don’t have to make your break up more complicated than it must be. Use these suggestions to help you keep yourself from concentrating on the negative feelings that just flood your brain after the split up.
